Extreme-ly brave!!!!

Thank you to Eliott Dovey's dad for mailing in the first of our Extreme Reader photographs. Eliott took a book along to his kick-boxing lesson and obviously wasn't disturbed when the lesson kicked off! Good luck Eliott, I hope Mr. Morris likes your picture. Miss D x

Doing the Animal Bop!

This term in the Nursery, we are looking forward to sharing books written by the author Jan Ormerod and illustrated by Lindsey Gardiner - we hope you enjoy them too!

This is what we thought when we took a look at the front cover of 'Doing the Animal Bop! . . . 

Felicity - "Oh - it's got a cow in it, and a monkey and an ostrich!"

Alisha - "There's lots of animals"

We read the title and wondered what the 'Animal Bop' might be!

Felicity - "Bopping to music? - They are dancing!"

Ava - "Shall we find out and see? We could have a look in the book - we could read"

There certainly were a lot of animals . . . 

Esme - "It looks like they're dancing!"

Bailey - "The elephant one - he stomps!"

Ava - "I liked it when the rhino was dancing"

Felicity - "I liked it when the monkey was bopping!"

The children thought about what else they liked . . . 

Jessica - I liked the snake - because it makes a song"

Jacob - "I liked the cow part - because it was funny"

Alisha - "I liked the cow when it was mooing!"

We all joined in with that part!

Noah - "I liked the bit with the monkeys - it's funny - when they couldn't stop swinging"

Evie - "I liked the chicken cluck"

Evan W - "The elephant bit - the mouse on his trunk - that's why I like it"

Reece - "I've got a trunk!" (demonstrated with his arm)

Lottie - "I liked his feet - cause they were stomping. The trunk - elephants put water in their trunk and then they blow bubbles! And I like the patterns on his feet"

If you sometimes dance and you like to sing, the animal bop is just your thing. Jump and jiggle, jive and wriggle . . . this will make you laugh and giggle.

Extreme Reading Challenge!

This term Greenfields are holding an 'Extreme Reader' challenge! 

E-mail your teacher a photo of you reading in an 'Extreme' (unusual)  place and we will display your photo in our library and the best photos will recieve a prize at the end of term!

Willow Class - Summer Term Author is...

During the summer term we have opted to look at the author Eric Carle!
He has many books about plants/ minibeasts!
Have a look at home or the library to see if you can find any to bring in and share :-)

In Wibbly's Garden!

We all enjoyed meeting Wibbly Pig again and 'In Wibbly's Garden' there was a BIG surprise waiting for Wibbly - and for us!

Maisy - "Wibbly Pig couldn't find Pigley"

Esme - "I think he's hiding under the tree!" 

The children loved lifting the flaps to reveal who or what was hiding there!

Felicity predicted what Wibbly might do with his bean - 

Felicity - "He's going to plant a beanstalk - make a little hole, put the bean inside it and you put water in and it grows and grows and grows!"

We met a hen as Wibbly climbed up the beanstalk - Bailey suggested it might belong to Kipper!

Several children tried to guess what would be hidden behind the clouds . . . 

Harley - "There might be a giant in there! - because giants live up there - the beanstalk"

Ember - "I think it's going to be a big, big, giant! Because I saw Jack and the Beanstalk"

Alfie - "I think it's going to be a big house - cause at the top of the beanstalk, I've got Jack and the Beanstalk"

Reece thought there might be a dragon, and Violet said it would be a castle!

Felicity - "It's just like Jack and the Beanstalk!"

Jessica - "I liked the castle, because it was so big!"

We thought the giant looked nice and friendly!

Lexie-Mai - "The giant said 'Where's my chicken?"

Lottie - "I liked it when the giant said 'Where's my chicken?' And I liked the beanstalk!"

The magic hen had a golden egg - and Pigley!

Alisha - "My favourite part was the giant!"

Sam - "I likeded the giant too - because the giant lost his magic hen and he found it"

Felicity - "I liked the giant 'cause he had a gold egg for Wibbly Pig - a magic egg!"

Wibbly Pig and Pigley were re-united, and Wibbly also got to keep the golden egg!

Thomas H - "I liked it when Pigley had the golden  egg in the car"

Oliver E - "I liked it when the giant said 'Goodbye' to Wibbly Pig"

Noah - "I liked it when Wibbly drove his car away with the golden egg and the giant said 'Bye' !"

We wondered where Wibbly Pig might go next - what do you think?

Willow class has - Amazing Brilliant Children!

Well done James!

Today James brought in a 'Judith Kerr' book called 'Mogs Amazing Birthday Caper'.
James had found this book at the library :-)

The children really enjoyed reading it as its a bit different from the others. Every page has most of the words on from a letter of the alphabet and the story runs in alphabetical order. This must have been very difficult for the author to do!
